The New Ary??? Ary - Amor Da Minha Vida! VS Edmasia - Erro Bom

Never fails this woman! That's why I love Ary, and especially her new song and brilliantly matching video 'Amor Da Minha Vida'.
However, another female artist I'm currently loving is Edmasia and her song 'Erro Bom'. Could she be the new Ary? or even Perola??? Time will tell...

Paulo Flores - Boda

The Count down to Paulo Flores' Big Show of 'Boda, anos 70, 80, 90' was finally over last night in. In an attempt to relive the past and recall the music hits in Luanda between the 70's and 80's, I can only imagine how well it went down.
On Angopop, the singer described the show to be  “a feast of generations, families and friends and a celebration of freedom, for art, music and poetry that forms the Angolan identity.”

From singing in bars in her native home, Cape Verde to winning a Grammy, Cesaria was an international star.

Mulher Melancia Numero 2?!

If your under  the age of 16, I suggest you don't press play. lol
On circulation right now in Brazil is MC Jennifer with 'A Bunda Cresce'. This to me just rings Mulher Melancia, All ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

But You gotta love Baile Funk!

Kuduro Meets Rock

Can this work?
We've all seen different genres collaborate in music, and now Portugal based Kuduro duo, The Shine, have teamed up with to Portuguese Indie Rockers called Throe to create the track 'Batida'.
In all honesty, I actually like it. Maybe a few tweaks here and there as it is a bit too much going on at once in some bits. But over all... an OK from me.

Here's their new Video Batida:

What do you think of the track?

Agre G feat Bruna Tatiana - Antao Nao

I don't know what rock I must have been living under but I was slighlty unaware that Bruna Tatiana can rap. Any whoo, here's Agre G's new video, 'Antao Nao' Feat Bruna Tatiana.

Pupilos Do Kuduro feat Pongo Love - Makongo

I've listened to how Kuduro has evolved over the years, and I must say, it has indeed come a long way. From just hard beats electronically put together to MC's rapping over them has brought an new stance to Angolan Dance music. Now with influences from the continent and beyond, a new brand of Kuduro is born.

I've always loved Pongo Love since she appeared on some of Buraka Som Sistema's tracks, and now she's featured with Pupilos do Kuduro, thus the track Makongo which I Love Love Love.

DJ Patrick Ft Aleluia - O Pato

These two always hit the spot every time they duet.
Ahhh... Semba.

Bana C4 ft On-X

French Afro beats also known as Coupe Decale has always been a favourite genre of mine, especially during its rise during the mid noughties.
Their Congolese inspired dance moves, (a genetic trait that some how surpassed me), and rhythms are sure to get you moving.
The group, Bana C4 featuring On-x recently released their new video for Vybez Tropicale, which I love love love.
Watching this video reminds me that a beach holiday in 2012 is defo needed.
Enjoy!

Mokoomba & DJ Gregor Salto

Some of you may of heard of Tonga music only after Queen B (myself in my next life, lol) featured tonga dancers in her Girls: Who Run the World Music Video.

A couple of years ago, Zimbabwean band, Mokoomba collaborated with Dutch DJ Gregor Salto to combine traditional tonga music with Modern instruments to create new cultural rhythms.

Have a listen to the original and then the mix, makes me wanna move every time I hear it.

Komba - Buraka Som Sistema

I was meant to blog about this a little while back, but some how it managed to go over my head.
My taste in music is somewhat slightly varied, as I don't have a particular favourite genre. Purely for the fact that I tend to like what I'm feeling at that moment in time. Kind of like my dress sense.
Anyways...
I am a big Buraka fan, and of course, purchased Buraka Som Sistema's new album (realeased on 31st October 2011), Komba a couple of weeks ago.

For those of you who don't know (most likely the majority) Buraka Som Sistema is a collective Lisbon based group who mix Angolan sounds of Kuduro with House and Techno ultimately creating an new sound of Afro-House.

This album is very energetic with unstoppable dance energy.

Currently on repeat on my ipod:

Eskeleto feat Afrikan boy

Nostalgia: Bonga - Hora Kota

It's been a little over a year now since I was in Luanda visiting my family, and words alone cannot express how much I miss being there with them.

This track, 'Hora Kota' from Bonga's new album is as nostalgic as it gets.
Growing up with parent's (Especially my dad) who practically had Bonga's album on constant repeat throughout my childhood, it only makes sense for me to love the mans music myself.

This weekend I had a laid back session with my daddy dearest, going through his old records, and conversing about his childhood back home.

This track, Hora Kota, especialment portrays exactly how I feel when I think of my fathers land, Africa's deep identity, and the importance of knowing these roots.
The calm melodic tune mixed with Bonga's husky voice as well as the lyrics gives it that beatuiful emotional feel.

Enjoy!
